Lauren’s Story
Hi, I’m Lauren. It’s a pleasure to meet you!
I love to use my legs as transport, love a cheeky glass of red every now and again and I can’t live without my daily coffee ritual.
Let me tell you a little about how I got here; starting at the beginning.
10 years ago, a close family member of mine passed away. At the same time, I was beginning my final year of high school.
The combination of these two stressful things happening at once saw my health take a complete nosedive.
My stomach started hurting all the time. I couldn’t bring myself to eat regularly, and when I did, the food didn’t taste like anything. I was always getting infections and had shingles on my skin. I was constantly anxious, stressed and depressed. My menstrual cycle became erratic and painful, sometimes causing nausea and vomiting due to stomach upset that was connected with this.
I missed quite a bit of school over this period.
The doctors I saw would say I just needed to “stress less” and take painkillers if things got too bad (ironically, the painkillers made the nausea worse!). I had a gastroenterologist look through my bowel and stomach with a camera, only to be told my colon was very healthy and that I had chronic gastroenteritis/IBS of unknown cause.
I just couldn’t continue feeling the way I was. There had to be a better way to manage my symptoms!
My mother booked me in with a naturopath and it changed everything.
The naturopathic approach has transformed me into a passionate advocate for lifestyle medicine. So much so, that I decided to study to achieve my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy), so that I can help others with Nutrition and Herbal Medicine, too.
Using what nature has already provided for us to promote health and wellness just makes sense. I want to share as much as I can with you so you can feel empowered to take control of your health and feel vibrant!
